GPC to Host German Fulbright Scholars on May 4 ATLANTA, Ga., (May 2, 2011) - The German-American Fulbright Commission and the Institute of International Education sponsor a visit of German educators to Georgia Perimeter College on Wednesday, May 4. The visit is part of a five-day higher education leadership workshop in Atlanta.  The GPC visit will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, at Dunwoody Campus, Building NB, Room 1601. The Dunwoody Campus is located at 2101 Womack Road. The German educators will be introduced to the diverse structure and function of the United States university system and U.S. higher education institutions. GPC President Dr. Anthony S. Tricoli will explain the role of community colleges in higher education, organization and structure, strategic planning and implementation, and financial structure and resource management. “We are proud and honored to be chosen as one of the institutions to share best practices with our colleagues from Germany. We hope to convey to them how Georgia Perimeter College has evolved into more than an access institution with outstanding faculty to one that is a school of first choice among the best and brightest in the state.” In view of significant university reforms taking place in Germany, the seminar will examine the drivers of U.S. higher education and governance and management structures of different types of higher education institutions, and how they shape higher learning in the U.S. Throughout the week-long seminar, the delegation will compare the U.S. and German systems and identify ways to apply American practice to the German context. The program will consist of an introductory workshop, six site visits to public and private universities in the Atlanta area, and two debriefing meetings.
