An Evening
of Words, Wit,
and Wisdom…
ATLANTA, Ga., (March 18, 2010) - Theatrical Outfit launches its third annual fundraising gala, ATLexis 2010, which will
feature celebrities reading and performing selections from the well-loved
canon of Southern literature. The event takes its name from the widely-accepted abbreviation for Atlanta, “ATL,” and the Greek term “lexis,” meaning
word or speech, to celebrate the dramatic craft of language.
Special guests include actress and director, Jasmine Guy, whose acting credits
include Vampire Diaries and A Different World. She most recently directed Brownie
Points (Theatrical Outfit) and made her directing debut earlier this year with For
Colored Girls… (Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company)
In addition to Guy, ATLexis 2010 participants are: award-winning writer Melissa
Fay Greene; singer/songwriter Pierce Pettis; Former Kennesaw State
University President, Dr. Betty Siegel; the cast of Theatrical Outfit’s 2009 –
2010 season closer, Sheldon Epps’ musical revue, Blues in the Night; and the cast
of Theatrical Outfit’s 2010 – 2011world premiere season opener, Confederacy of
Dunces adapted by Tom Key, and more to be announced.
A post-performance reception and live auction will be held next door at The Rialto
Center for the Arts at Georgia State University.
