Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to Host Club Tech Internet and Media Safety Event March 24, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.
5360 Old Norcross Rd – Norcross

NORCROSS, Ga., (March 17, 2010) - To better inform Norcross-area youth and families, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and Sprint will host an Internet and Media Safety Day featuring the interactive and informative 4NetSafetySM program and NetSmartz Workshop.

Based on a study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project (Teens, Privacy and Online Social Networks; April 18, 2007), 93% of all Americans between 12 and 17 years old use the Internet. Of these online teens, 55% of them have online profiles, and 82% of those with profiles have included their first name. Further, 61% have included the name of their city or town and 29% have included their last name. Boys & Girls Clubs and Sprint understands the need to provide parents and communities with resources to help combat potential safety hazards. Through the 4NetSafety and Netsmartz programs, Boys & Girls Club members are taught healthy Internet and media habits.
