One Week Remaining to Enter 3rd Annual Georgia Super Senior Championship and 13th Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship
MARIETTA, Ga. (March 17, 2010) – Entries will be closing on March 24 for the 3rd annual Georgia Super Senior Championship, which takes place April 14-15 at Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming. This event is open to male amateur golfers age 65 and older as of April 14, who are GSGA members and Georgia residents.
The event is open to 144 players, with the Championship flight comprised of the 72 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes and the remainder of the field flighted by handicap. The format will be 36 holes of stroke play. Last year, Decatur’s Matt O’Brien fired the only sub-par round of the competition, a one-under 71 on the final day, to finish with a five-over 149 to best Bill Ploeger of Columbus by a single shot.
Entries will also be closing for the 13th annual Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship, which takes place April 14-16 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton. This event is open to female amateur golfers who are GSGA members and Georgia residents.
The format of the event is match play with the field being flighted and seeded by handicap index. The field will consist of the 48, 56 or 64 entries with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes. In last year’s event, Augusta’s Laura Coble defeated two-time defending champion Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale in a match that went 21 holes.
Qualified players must enter online at the GSGA website (www.gsga.org) by clicking the Online Registration quick link. The deadline for entry in to both events is Wednesday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m.
The Entry period is also currently open for the Georgia Four-Ball Championship (through March 31).
