Actions Taken by the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors at its March 11 Meeting

Macon, Ga. (March 15, 2010) — The Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors held its meeting via conference call on Thursday, March 11, 2010.

The Board voted to amend the Limited Service Specialty Contractors list to include Low-Income Weatherization and Energy Efficiency.

The Board voted to post the following amended rules: 
Rule 553-4-.01 Licensure Requirements for an Individual to Practice as a General Contractor in the Individual’s Own Name or Doing Business as an Individual in a Trade Name or as a Sole Proprietorship. The purpose of this rule amendment is to suspend the requirement of a line of credit and to add “compilation” to net worth requirement.
Rule 553-4-.02 Licensure Requirements for an Individual Acting as a Qualifying Agent for a Business Organization Seeking to Engage in the Profession of General Contracting in the Name of the Business Organization. The purpose of this rule amendment is to suspend the requirement of a line of credit and to add “compilation” to net worth requirement.

The Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors will hold its next meeting via conference call on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
