Conservative Republican and popular WSB-750AM radio talk show host
Herman Cain
was the guest speaker at a rally for Jef Fincher
at the Edgewater Club House in Lawrenceville today. Jef Fincher is from Duluth and is my candidate choice for U.S.
Congress for the 7th District of Georgia, John Linder’s
too long-held, but finally retired seat. Over 150 people heard Jef say that it is imperative that we engage people now in
ways that politicians haven’t done in a long, long time. He’s gained a lot of insight from
talking with hundreds of folks in their neighborhoods.

Jef and Kathy Fincher.
Herman Cain spoke from the heart, as I believe he always does. He told the audience
that he agreed with
every word of Jef Fincher’s “Twenty Points,” which is his stand
on the crucial issues facing us. You can read Jef’s “Twenty Points” on this link:
www.jeffincherforcongress.com/blog/?p=79
Mr. Cain said he was tired of the deception perpetrated upon us by our leaders. He
said our government has been hijacked by the liberals and said the Democrat agenda is
nothing more than political power. He called for all Americans to stay connected, stay
informed, and stay inspired!
Richard Deluga and Herman Cain.
One last patriotic rally for Jef Fincher on July 18th, Sunday, on the Town
Green in Duluth, from about 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Bring the children as the fountains will be on.
State Rep. Brooks Coleman
and Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris
will be on hand to tell you all why Jef Fincher needs to go to Congress!

My friends, the General Election Primary for Georgia is next Tuesday, July 20, 2010,
and it can’t get here too soon for me! The costly yard sign wars on the “candidates’
corners” in our various communities are mildly amusing, but the ubiquitous campaign
mailers that are now arriving in droves to our mailboxes are becoming disgusting. I
can only hope the ones that are attack ads for opponents will misfire sadly. We got
two of these mud-slinging missiles in the mail yesterday and I’m mad about them.
One was an attack on gubernatorial candidate Karen Handel
. Both my husband and I looked that nasty thing over very carefully, but totally missed the ownership of the
sender. Of course, that was by design. Handel’s campaign had to point out to me just
exactly where the very, very dim gray type was located that blended in with the gray edge
of the mailer that said: Paid for by Oxendine Working for Georgia, Inc. Well, John, this
mailer was disgraceful. You deserve to lose! And since I feel this way about negative
campaigning, this disgusting mailer was actually the frosting on the cake that the cover
article of
Creative Loafing baked recently. Follow this link to read that publication’s take
on John Oxendine

Be sure to read the entire story.
The other gnarly attack ad delivered to our house yesterday was aimed at Jose
Perez
, candidate for District 2 Commissioner. The sender was easily identified on this one:
Friends of Keith Shewbert
. Shewbert is the candidate from Norcross who is also running for District 2 Commissioner. The other Republican candidate for District 2 is
Lynette Howard
from Peachtree Corners, my candidate choice hands down. She is running a clean and crystal-clear campaign and has not maligned anybody. She has made
a conscious decision not to go negative with any information. Jose Perez, however, sent a
mailer we received today that targeted both Shewbert and Howard. I am sure Jose thinks
he is being very clever. Well, as Queen Victoria famously said, “We are not amused!”
State Senate Candidate James Sibold
has repeatedly sent attack mailers about one of his opponents, Fran Milla
r. Then, yesterday I got a campaign letter from Sibold’s wife, Karen
Sibold
, that was addressed only to me, telling me what a dear man her husband is.
Hello? Who is running that schizophrenic campaign anyway? I voted for Fran Millar.

On my way up to Lawrenceville today, I took North Berkeley Lake Road around the
Point Berkeley International Village to get to Pleasant Hill Road. That Point Berkeley
commercial center is a huge disgrace, weeds up to your knees all around the planted
areas. It is sad to see such evidence of financial deficit. Somebody needs to get a yard
crew over there and clean up the place as it is a spectacular eyesore. I think that property
is in the city of Duluth.
