Associated Credit Union Foundation Partners with the American Red Cross

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (February 5, 2010) - Associated Credit Union’s new charitable foundation is partnering with the American Red Cross to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Donations will support emergency relief and recovery efforts including deploying personnel, sending relief supplies, and providing financial resources.

The foundation’s Haitian Relief Fund has already received over $10,000 in the first ten days. Tax deductable donations can be made at one of Associated CU’s 28 branches in Atlanta or the four branches at its CSRA CU division in Augusta. Members can donate through phone transfers or secure e-mail on Associated CU’s Online banking Web site.

Associated CU did not foresee natural disasters as being a part of the foundation’s original purpose, but after the earthquake in Haiti, ACU immediately shifted to helping those affected by the destruction.

“We found our foundation to be a good and convenient conduit through which our concerned members and employees could provide aid.” said Associated Credit Union’s President and CEO, C. Lin Hodges.

Over the next couple of weeks, Associated CU has the goal of raising over $20,000 for its foundation. Non-members are also allowed to participate by visiting any branch.

Associated Credit Union, chartered in 1930, is headquartered in Norcross, Georgia. Providing low-cost services to its members, ACU is ranked in the top 150 credit unions in the United States.
