Javelin Tech announces high school
scholarship winners

Atlanta, Georgia (June 22, 2009) Javelin Technical Training Centers, Inc. announced today the winners of its 2009 High School Scholarships. First place scholarships were awarded to Elizabeth Edmonds of Forest Park, a graduate of Forest Park High School; Leticia Hilson of Lithonia, a graduate of Stephenson High School and Ileana Rivera of Smyrna, a graduate of Campbell High School. Second place scholarship winners include Julio Cabanos of Mableton, a graduate of South Cobb High School; Laura Hernandez, resident of Norcross and graduate from Norcross High School and finally, Shunta Petty of Morrow, a graduate of Morrow High School.

“The competition this year was fierce”, said Emily Brown, Regional Director of Career Services for Javelin Tech. “The (Scholarship Advisory) Committee had a difficult time selecting only 6 winners from the 49 semi-finalists.” Applicants came from a cross-section of metro-Atlanta including Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties.

“Part of our outreach,” says Leah Sheets, Community Outreach Coordinator for Javelin Tech, “is being able to empower students with the opportunity of an education. At Javelin Tech, we echo President Obama’s emphasis on career-specific training, primarily in medical and I.T. careers where there is demand.” Congratulations to all the winners!
