XTERRA hosts inaugural Trail Run in Hiram, GA
Race #7 in the 2009 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series

HIRAM,GA (June 16, 2009) – As the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series continues to expand, race director Tim Schroer is always on the lookout for new and exciting venues to visit. So when he came across the Homer Leggett Park in Hiram, Georgia, the XTERRA Silver Comet Trail Run was born.

This inaugural 10-kilometer event challenges area runners with a fun mixture of single and double track off-road adventures. Half of the race will follow the winding woods along the Silver Comet path before meeting up with the last 3.1 miles along the Paulding Co. SORBA Trails. According to Schroer, “the terrain is a mixed bag of rolling hills, grueling climbs, roots, and rocks with no shortage of technical sections.” Going along with the season’s theme, it is truly a race worth “ditching the city” for.

Top runners in the XTERRA Silver Comet Trail Run will earn points toward their 2009 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series totals. After the XTERRA Rock Hawk Trail Run finale event on August 23, the 2009 series points will be tallied, and the runners with the highest scores will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can say aloha to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 6.
