Format and Schedule
The Georgia Top 60 Women’s Classic takes place Wednesday, July 29 through Thursday, July 30. The event is 36 holes of stroke play over two days with the field of 60 women divided into five flights by handicap index.
Eligibility
Entries were open to female amateur golfers who are members of a GSGA member club and residents of Georgia and have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 15.0. The field consists of the 60 entrants with the lowest handicap indexes.
Event History
The Georgia Top 60 Women’s Classic began in 1989 as the Top 40 Women’s Classic. The field was extended to 56 competitors in 2002 and then extended to 60 in 2003.
Host Club: Reynolds Landing Golf Club
Reynolds Landing Golf Club, formerly known as Port Armor Country Club, boasts a course designed by Bob Cupp and was the first layout built on popular Lake Oconee. Reynolds Landing was featured as the host club for the 1990 Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship as well as the 2001 GSGA Senior Women’s Championship. The head golf professional is Scott Justman and the superintendent is Lane Singleton. The club’s phone number is (866) 405-7400.
Directions to the course: I-20 E. to Exit 130/Hwy. 44. Turn South, go 7 miles to the entrance on the right.
Reynolds Landing Golf Club will play at 6,015 yards and as a par 72.

Defending Champion
At the 2008 Georgia Top 60 Women’s Classic, played at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Leigh Crosby of Athens carded a final-round 77 to go with her opening-round 69 to secure a one-shot victory over Kendall Wright of Suwanee.
Competitor Highlights
• Augusta’s Laura Coble, who won the Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship this past spring, returns to the Georgia Top 60 field after not competing in 2008. She is looking capture victory in this event for the first time since 1998.
• Dori Carter of Valdosta competes in this year’s field after a strong showing in this summer’s Georigia Women’s Amateur Championship. Carter fired rounds of 69, 68 and 74 but lost in a playoff to defending champion Mariah Stackhouse.
• Marietta’s Brenda Pictor, the two-time reigning GSGA Senior Women’s Player of the Year, will attempt to capture her first Top 60. Pictor carded rounds of 76 and 75 to finish fifth a year ago.
• Past champions making an appearance in this year’s Georgia Top 60 Women’s Classic include: Ginette Spinucci of Stone Mountain (1995), Laura Coble (1998) and Lauren Darnell of Gainesville (2007).

About the GSGA
Founded in 1916, the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) received its official charter on June 24, 1924. Since that date, the GSGA has grown to one of the largest state amateur golf associations in the country, with over 365 member clubs and 85,000 individual members.
