Great Harvest has Affordable, Fresh Ideas for the Holidays!

Duluth, Ga., (December 11, 2009) – Great Harvest Bread Co. in Duluth d is baking up flavorful and affordable specialty gifts for the holidays to meet the growing need for unique, from-the-heart gifts that won’t break the bank. In an uncertain economy, affordable gifts prepared from scratch demonstrate a thoughtful touch for holiday gifts.

The spirit of the season is alive and well at the 10305 Medlock Bridge Rd. bakery where holiday gifts will range from $5 to $100 for scratch-made treats for family, friends, co-workers, clients and holiday parties. To make shopping as enjoyable as possible and to ensure everyone’s product wishes are fulfilled, the bakery is offering pre-orders of gift baskets and specialty holiday products. Ordering in advance is a great way to avoid the crowds.

Legendary favorites include Berry Christmas Swirl bread (packed with blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, cream, and brown sugar swirls), Reindeer bread (Honey Whole Wheat loaf shaped like a reindeer), and an array of complementary items like specialty coffee, soup, cocoa, jams and dipping oil.
“Understandably, this year holiday shoppers will be seeking meaningful gifts that are priced right,” said owner Erika Boland. “We love the holidays and will provide a shopping experience that’s enjoyable and products to please every palate and pocket book. From sweet to savory and traditional to imaginative, we’ll have lots of tasty gift options.”

In addition to holiday gifts, the bakery will continue its ongoing commitment to helping those less fortunate in the local community through contributions of fresh bread to local shelters. This year, the bakery will donate all leftover baked goods each day to area churches including St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and the Church of the Hills (each delivers the bread to homeless and chemically addicted citizens in the area).

“When times get tough economically, it’s important for us to remember the increasing number of friends and neighbors who are facing difficulties,” said Boland. “The Great Harvest mission statement is infused with generosity. Whether it is a customer or someone in need, we know our lives are enhanced through giving, especially during the holidays.”

Great Harvest is known for its handcrafted breads made with whole wheat supplied by family-owned farms in Montana. Great Harvest mills its whole wheat daily in the bakery and uses only pure, simple ingredients to create signature breads and treats. The bakery is also known for generous free slices of warm, fresh breads and sweets at its famous “breadboard.” The Duluth Great Harvest bakery is located at 10305 Medlock Bridge Rd. Pre-orders for hot-out-of-the-oven December gifts can be made by calling the bakery at 770-622-0222 or in-person; gift boxes can also be shipped nationwide. The bakery will be open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
