Cooking Demonstration & Women's Wellness Workshop Scheduled Gwinnett County's Aerobics, Yoga, & More is "cooking up" wellness for the mind, body, and soul

LILBURN, GA (September 25, 2008) - A Cooking Demonstration & Women's Wellness Workshop is slated for Saturday, October 11 at Gwinnett County's newest "green" fitness and dance studio, namely Aerobics, Yoga, & More located at 4051 Stone Mountain Hwy, Suite G101B, Lilburn, GA 30047 (in the Publix Shopping Plaza at the intersection of Hwy 78 & Killian Hill Road).

This cooking demonstration and wellness workshop was developed to discuss various illnesses affecting women at all stages of life. Registrants will learn how certain foods, herbs and spices can positively affect mood, fight illness and the side affects of disease. In addition to taste-testing different foods, attendees will walk away with screening information and resources to assist in identifying and managing disease and illness. Presenters include Staycee Benjamin-Stone, MPH, a preventive care specialist; and Asata Reid, an organic and natural food chef and food preparation presenter. Members of the Upsilon Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will be on hand to assist with disseminating information. 

The cost for the Cooking Demonstration and Women's Wellness Workshop is $20 -advance registration is required by Friday October 3. Aerobics, Yoga & More Fitness Studiosä is Gwinnett's newest "green" fitness and dance studio owned and directed by Althea Lawton-Thompson. For over a decade, Lawton-Thompson has worked and trained with individuals and groups at hospitals, fitness centers and schools throughout the US and the Caribbean. At Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center in Baltimore, MD, she created and still runs the fitness programming for their youth obesity program. In Atlanta she designs, implements and staffs the fitness Healthy Living courses for all 15 Kaiser Permanente medical centers. Further, as a faculty member for the American Council on Exercise, she is an international presenter and motivational speaker and has authored several published articles on health and wellness. With specialties in pre- and postnatal fitness, youth obesity, and joint/muscle disorders, Lawton-Thompson is a sought-after wellness professional.
