ATLANTA, GA (March 25, 2008) - This fall, art enthusiasts will be flocking to Midtown for the 2nd Annual Atlanta Arts Festival, one of the few events scheduled to take place in Atlanta’s beloved Piedmont Park. September 12th -14th will bring an opportunity for Atlantans to embrace the changing of the seasons as they browse art collections presented 200 artists covering 12 categories. In addition to being an art lovers dream, the Atlanta Arts Festival will host a wide variety of talented performance artists and musicians.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the festival back for its second year and could not imagine a backdrop more perfect than Piedmont Park in which to showcase some of the countries finest artists,” says Julie Tepp, Director of the Atlanta Arts Festival. “The combination of art, music, Piedmont Park and autumn weather promises a fun-filled weekend for all who attend!”
The evening of Friday, September 12th will give both artists and Preview Party ticket holders a chance to start the festivities early. This four hour event will allow patrons to have a first look at the wide variety of art that the festival will offer and a chance to buy their favorite pieces before anyone else! The evening will boast live entertainment, cocktails and cuisine—giving everyone a chance to meet and mingle with the artists before the weekend crowds.
The 2nd Annual Atlanta Arts Festival is a professionally juried event and will spotlight art appealing to all tastes from traditional to eclectic featuring the country's finest painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal craftsmen, glass blowers and more! Festival goers may also take a break from the art and entertainment to enjoy food, beverages and hands-on family fun activities throughout the weekend.
The fact that art aficionados will have the chance to meander through the paths and blankets of grass that make up Piedmont Park is especially exciting this year. The Atlanta Arts Festival is one of a select group of events that is part of the park’s 2008 event line-up. “We are grateful to be allowed to utilize Piedmont Park again this year in spite of the severe drought that has affected the region and limited the park’s usage,” Tepp added.
