Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers at its February 20 Meeting

Macon, Ga. (March 17, 2008) — The Georgia State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers held a special meeting for licensees to appeal sanctions on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.

   The Board voted to issue Final Decisions on the following cases:

     Affordable Cars of Tucker, Tucker: $78,000 for 78 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and 78 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     A & J Motorsports, Inc., St. Marys: $2,250 for nine instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale; $7,000 for seven instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and seven instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date. The total fine is $9,250.

     Auto Access, Decatur: $3,250 for 13 instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale; $250 for one instance of possession of an open title not properly assigned as prescribed by O.C.G.A. Title 40; $8,000 for eight instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and eight instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date. The total fine is $11,500.

     Auto Super Center, Hinesville: $1,000 for four instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Carswell Cars/Park N Sell, Macon: $45,000 for 45 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and 45 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Distinctive Auto Brokers, Inc., Covington: $1,000 for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Eubanks Motors, Macon: $5,000 for five instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and five instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Justos Auto Sales, Decatur: $1,000 for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Regency Auto Sales, Decatur: $2,000 for two instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and two instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Sky Motors, Lake City: $1,000 for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Universal Car Sales, Inc., Tucker: $1,750 for seven instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Phillips Automotive, LLC, Macon: $15,000 for 15 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; two instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date; and $500 for two instances of possession of an open title not properly assigned as prescribed by O.C.G.A. Title 40. The total fine is $15,500.

     Acceptance Auto Sales, Bankhead Hwy., Lithia Springs: $1,750 for seven instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Acceptance Auto Sales, Peachtree St., Lithia Springs: $24,000 for 24 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; 24 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date; and $5,250 for
21 instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale. The total fine is $29,250.

     Car Zone, Austell: Waive the fine in full for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Cars & Credit, Decatur: $15,000 for 15 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and 15 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Georgia Car Mart, LLC, Roswell: $250 for one instance of possession of an open title not properly assigned as prescribed by O.C.G.A. Title 40.

     Jay's Used Cars, LLC, Tucker: $11,000 for 11 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and 11 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

Quality First Used Cars, LLC, Tucker: $21,000 for 21 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; 21 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date; and $250 for one instance of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale. The total fine is $21,250.

     All in One Auto Sales, Inc., Decatur: $10,000 for 10 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; 10 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date; $1,500 for six instances of possession of an open title not properly assigned as prescribed by O.C.G.A. Title 40; $750 for three instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale. The total fine is $12,250.

     Car Collection, Inc., Stone Mountain: $1,500 for six instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Gold Key Auto, Inc., Waycross: $1,000 for four instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Perry's Used Auto Sale, Warner Robins: $1,000 for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

     Budget Car Sales, Douglas: $750 for three instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Lake View Motors, Woodstock: $2,000 for eight instances of failure to post FTC Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.

     Roswell Auto Imports, Roswell: $1,000 for one instance of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.

   The Georgia State Board of Registration for Used Motor Vehicle Dealers will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon.
