HNTB Federal Services Corporation Selected for Three Year Planning and GIS Contract with USACE Savannah District
BRAC initiatives in the Southeast call for increased planning to meet 21st century challenges
SAVANNAH, Ga. (Feb. 19, 2008) – HNTB Federal Services Corporation has been awarded a three-year master planning and geographic information systems indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District.
HNTB Federal Services will serve as the prime consultant on the project, providing master planning, geographic information services, engineering and architectural design, condition assessments, programming documentation, planning charrettes and utility studies for installations of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Specialty contractor Spatial Engineering, Inc. will assist HNTB with geographic information services.
“Initial planning for Base Realignment and Closure locations is critical to help the USACE Savannah District find innovative ways to consolidate, realign, expand or find alternative uses for current facilities,” said Joe LaVoie, HNTB Federal Services project manager. “This planning makes way for facilities that better match the changing force requirements outlined in the Army’s transformation plan to meet threats and challenges of the 21st century.”
This is an important contract for the USACE Savannah District since it covers BRAC activities for several of the most important military installations in the country, including U.S. Army posts Fort Benning, Fort Bragg, Fort Jackson and Fort Stewart along with Shaw and Robins Air Force bases.
“We are eager to support the USACE Savannah District on a project of this scale and importance to our nation’s armed services,” LaVoie added.
