PSC Revises Schedule for SCANA Energy Hearing; Rejects SCANA Open Records Request

ATLANTA, (April 15, 2008) – The Georgia Public Service Commission (Commission) today approved new hearing dates for the Rule Nisi (show cause hearing) proceeding against SCANA Energy, Docket Number 26837. The Commission will conduct the hearings on June 17, 2008 beginning at 11 a.m. and on June 18, 2008 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Commission offices at 244 Washington Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia. The Commission proceeding (Rule Nisi) will investigate allegations that SCANA violated state law and Commission rules regarding variable natural gas price plans.

The Commission also rejected SCANA’s Open Records Act request for certain documents related the case. SCANA submitted 21 requests to the Commission seeking documents relating to communications between Commission staff, SCANA, and other parties related to this proceeding. The Commission agreed with the staff recommendation that Georgia law does not give SCANA, as a party to the proceeding, the right to request such documents under the Open Records Act.

More information on these issues can be found on the Commission website, www.psc.state.ga.us under the appropriate Docket Number.
