Statement from Governor Perdue on
Grady Memorial Hospital Board Vote

ATLANTA (November 28, 2007) – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today in response to the Grady Memorial Hospital Board vote last night.

"From the start, I have expressed my belief that Grady Memorial Hospital, like most other public, urban hospitals in Georgia, will benefit from a corporate restructuring. While the Grady Board takes the necessary first step to put its own house in order, I am actively working with the Lieutenant Governor and the Speaker on funding solutions for Georgia's trauma network that will doubtlessly infuse funds to Grady Memorial Hospital.

"I have no intention of signing an unenforceable document that seeks to bind the state to a specific, annual appropriation. I look forward to working with Grady's leaders and exploring the state's role in helping hospitals like Grady that provide critical trauma services to Georgia."
