Miss Georgia Preteen to deliver
Valentine's cards to the elderly at Loganville
nursing home
Loganville, Georgia, (January 29, 2007) - Loganville
Middle School student Kayla Watson will likely be
getting plenty of hugs this Valentine's Day. The
6th grader, who is Miss
Georgia Preteen 2006-2007, will be handing out
Valentine’s cards to the residents of Southern
Plantation, an assisted living facility in
Loganville.
“I want to make their Valentine’s Day happy,” said Watson, who plans to hand-make cards for each of the 80 residents at the facility. “And I want to make them feel special.”
Since being crowned Miss Georgia Preteen, Watson has volunteered her time to numerous events and charities, and has been recognized by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and Loganville Mayor Tim Barron. She is a three-year member of Queens for a Cure, a group of pageant queens that rally together to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Last year, when Watson was crowned Little Miss Loganville, she delivered Valentine’s cards to residents at an assisted living facility in Snellville.
“It was great to see the smile on their faces when they got the Valentine’s cards. I think it makes them feel like they are not forgotten.”
As Miss Georgia, Watson represented the state at the national Miss American Preteen pageant held in Disney World, where she placed 16th overall out of 84 contestants from throughout the nation.
