Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators at its December 6 Meeting
Griffin, Ga. (December 10, 2007) — The Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators held its quarterly meeting on Thursday, December 6.
The Board voted to suspend the following license for failure to repay student loans:
Jennifer Johnson, Valdosta
The Board voted to adopt the following rule revisions:
Rule Chapter 393-1: Organization. Defines composition of Board as stated in Title 43-27.2. Creation of board; members, by providing specific detail about position requirements for each board member.
Rule Chapter 393-2: Definitions. Clarifies definitions for requirements for licensure. The main feature of the proposed chapter amendments is to update terminology used by the Board.
Rule Chapter 393-3: Qualifications for Licensure. Clarifies requirements for licensure, adds requirement for completion of Administrator in Training program as part of the licensure requirements for all candidates for licensure in Georgia.
Rule Chapter 393-4: Administrator in Training. Includes information to clarify the definitions and requirements for licensure of an Administrator in Training. Further defines requirements for a Georgia Board Approved AIT Program.
Rule Chapter 393-5: Application Process. Includes information to change the name of the chapter and to clarify the requirements for renewal, reinstatement, and revocation of licensure. Revised late renewal period to one late renewal deadline within three (3) month of the deadline renewal period.
Rule Chapter 393-6: Disciplinary Action. Includes information to clarify the disciplinary actions that may be taken by the Board. The main feature of the proposed chapter amendment is to update the wording of the disciplinary actions that may be taken by the Board.
Rule Chapter 393-8: Duplicate License Certificate. Repealed. Board determined that this is an administrative procedure and does not require a Board Rule.
Rule Chapter 393-9: Reciprocity. The main feature of the proposed chapter amendment is to change the name of the chapter to reflect the contents of the chapter and to update the requirements for the application and the qualifications required for licensure by endorsement from another state.
Rule Chapter 393-12: Change of Status. Includes information to clarify the requirements for changing an active license to an inactive license and for changing an inactive license to an active license.
Rule Chapter 393-13: Continuing Education. Includes information to clarify the requirements, sources, and documentation of the continuing education hours.
In other Board news, Board Chair Penny Griffin presented recently retired Board Member Henry Neill with a letter of commendation from Governor Perdue for his years of service to the Nursing Home Board.
The Board also held the annual election for officers. Penny Griffin of Griffin was re-elected Board Chair and Barbara Baxter of Woodstock was elected Vice Chair.
The next meeting of the Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators is Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 9:00 am at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
