Sterling Stampede 5K coming to
Sterling on the Lake
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga., (Aug. 20, 2007) – The first “Sterling Stampede” 5K and “Treehouse Tot Trot” will take place at Sterling on the Lake™ on Sept. 15, 2007. Presented by the community’s Activities Committee, the event benefits My Sister’s Place, a non-profit organization providing shelter, safety and life skills training to women in need. The Sterling Stampede 5K begins at 9 a.m. at the Sterling Clubhouse. The race course follows residential streets, including those along Lake Sterling, and has several hills in the terrain.
The Treehouse Tot Trot, a half-mile fun run for kids 10 and under, starts at 8:30 a.m. across the street from the clubhouse. The course follows a neighborhood street and ends up at the community’s large treehouse where junior runners can play.
As part of the morning’s events, guests can stay for a catered post-race breakfast and take advantage of complimentary pre- and post-race massages. They will also receive free t-shirts and goody bags. Awards and gift certificates from local merchants will be given to first-place finishers, male and female, and age category winners. Awards, gift certificates and ribbons will be presented for the tot trotters. Other post-race events include a “Race-Day Roundup” later that afternoon with the Rocky Creek Band performing live from 5 until 8 p.m. on the Village Green. Attendance is $15 per blanket or family.

. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Sept. 10. The Sterling Stampede 5K registration fee is $25 and the Treehouse Tot Trot is $10 per child. Late registration is available the morning of Sept. 15, 7-8:30 a.m., and is $30 for adults and $15 for Tot Trot runners. Pre-registered runners can pick up their packets the morning of the race. To ensure the safety of participants, inline skates, pets and bicycles are not permitted.
