The Medical Center of Central Georgia Celebrates
First Anniversary with Magnet Designation
Macon, GA (May 16, 2006)―The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) celebrates its first anniversary as a
Magnet designated hospital. The staff will celebrate Wednesday, May 17 at 2 p.m. in the Eversole Auditorium. MCCG will unveil the history of Magnet video, listen to testimonials, and enjoy live music and refreshments.
In the past year, the Magnet designation has attracted more high-quality nurses from across the US and abroad. In addition to nursing staff, the Magnet designation helps recruit other professionals like pharmacists and physicians to the area.
Our nurses participate in a shared-governance model that assures they are involved in all aspects of patient care. This participation improves patient care with lower mortality, higher quality, and reduced lengths of stay. Nurses are vigilant, attentive, and compassionate, and they are encouraged to spend more time at the bedside. Therefore, patients are more satisfied, and they, along with their family, are more involved in their own care.
Independently sponsored research shows that Magnet-designated facilities consistently outperform
non-Magnet organizations by delivering better patient outcomes, shorter lengths of patient stay, and lower patient mortality rates. In addition,
