ATLANTA, GA df(Sep. 23) – Critically-acclaimed Paste Magazine is thrilled to announce the inaugural Paste Rock ‘n’ Reel Festival to be held in Decatur, Georgia on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd! With plenty for independent film and music enthusiasts, the indoor/outdoor festival will feature an entire weekend filled with music on multiple stages and special film presentations in two screening rooms as well as theatrical performances, an art exhibit, crafts and more. This is the only place to be to view the best in short film, live music and arts showcased in an intimate setting.
“Paste Magazine strives to bring recognition to the best of a wide variety of music and film,” said Tim Porter, festival director and editor of Paste’s film coverage. “We are very excited to provide, through this festival, an opportunity for those with a love of great music and films to experience it first hand and to give some really great artists and filmmakers the spotlight they deserve.”
Throughout the weekend artists scheduled to take the stage include; Low, Buddy Miller, Mark Olson & Victoria Williams, Howe Gelb of Giant Sand, Over the Rhine, Cary Brothers, Erin McKeown, Brandi Carlile, Red Letter Agent, Denison Witmer, Taylor Hollingsworth, Kate York, Manchester Orchestra and more. Full schedule with additional artists, including several from the local Atlanta area, will be released shortly.
In addition to two full days of great music, there will be plenty to preview by those who also have a love of film. Festival-goers can sit in on a special forum and screening with Mike and Matt Chapman, a.k.a. the Brothers Chaps and creators of HomestarRunner.com, to learn what’s behind their cartoon creations. There will also be opportunities to view a competition of short films submitted to Paste, several Academy-nominated shorts, as well as two special feature film presentations, including High and Dry: Where the Desert Meets Rock ‘n’ Roll, a documentary on the Tucson, Arizona music scene followed by a discussion with the film’s director. Organizers will also present the Best of Paste DVD’s, short films and music videos included on the magazines DVD samplers over the past year.
Keeping with Paste Magazine’s commitment to “Signs of Life in Music, Film, and Culture,” the Paste Shorts Fest will also include a Global Awareness film and discussion forum spotlighting humanitarian issues, especially in developing nations.
Tickets will be available for purchase beginning Friday, September 30th at
