Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA (OCt. 3) - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments. 

Board of Directors of Georgia Regional Transportation Authority

Jerry W. Bowman, 54, Cumming, GA, Member - Bowman is the president and chief operating officer of Cardinal Logistics Management, Inc., a privately held transportation and logistics company. He is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Retail Industry Logistics Association. Bowman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Pamela, have two children and one grandchild. 

Board of Early Care and Learning

Gabrielle A. Braswell, 31, Atlanta, GA, Sixth Congressional District Representative - Braswell is the assistant director for public affairs with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. She is a board member of the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, a volunteer with the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses and a team leader and reading tutor with Partners in Education for Lockheed Elementary School. Braswell earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University. She and her husband, Scott, have one child.

Georgia Agrirama Development Authority

M. K. “Curly” Cook, Ph. D.,71, Crawford, GA, At Large Member - Cook retired as an associate director of the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Georgia. Currently, he is self-employed as a cattleman and rancher. He is a member and a former president of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, a member of the National Cattleman’s Beef Association and former president of the University of Georgia’s College of Agriculture Alumni Association. Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Panhandle A&M College, a master’s degree in animal nutrition from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in rumen physiology from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Sandra, have two grown children.

George B. Lee, 54, Tifton, GA, Tift County Resident Representative - Lee retired as a 4-H program development coordinator with the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension Service. Currently, he is a realtor with ERA-Coleman Overstreet Realty Company. He is a member of the Georgia and National Association of Retired County Agents, the Georgia and National Association of Retired 4-H Agents, the Georgia Master 4-H Club and the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce. Lee earned an associate’s degree in agriculture science from Abraham Baldwin College, a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Georgia, a public policy certificate from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in extension education from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Lynn, have two children.

Dale A. Redeker, 68, Tifton, GA, Public Education Background Representative - Redeker recently retired as the agriculture/youth director with the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter. He is a life member of the National FFA Alumni Association and a member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. Redeker earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in agricultural education from the University of Georgia. He survives his wife, Jo Ann, and has three grown children.

Governor’s Agriculture Advisory Commission

William R. “Rick” Berry, III, 48, Lyons, GA, Member - Berry is the owner and president of Oconee River Produce, Inc., the co-owner and president of Southern Vegetable Cooperative, Inc., a general partner in B&B Farms and a partner in Vidalia Onion Farms, Inc. He is a member of the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Grower’s Association, the Vidalia Onion Committee, the Southeastern Technical College Board and the Toombs County Development Authority. Berry attended Berry College. He and his wife, Mary, have three children.
