State Representative Greg Morris
Joins the Republican Party
ATLANTA (Aug. 11) - State Representative Greg Morris of Vidalia announced today he will join the Republican Party.
“The Republican Party represents the common sense values of Georgians,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “We are proud to welcome Greg Morris to the team.”
Morris, who made the announcement before supporters in Vidalia, was joined by Governor Sonny Perdue and Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.
"The Republican Party as it exists today is more in line with the personal beliefs I have and with the people I represent," said Morris. "After this session, I believe they delivered on the promises they've been making for years. It doesn't make sense not to belong to the caucus you vote with 95 percent of the time."
“Representative Morris’ decision goes to show that the Democratic Party is out of touch with Georgians and their values,” said Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.
“The Republican Party is the fastest growing family in Georgia. Representative Morris has wisely decided to join that family, and I look forward to working with him,” said Georgia Republican Party Chairman Alec Poitevint. “The Democratic Party does not represent the mainstream way of life in our state.”
Morris represents House District 155 which includes parts of Emanuel and Wheeler Counties and all of Montgomery, Toombs, and Truetlen Counties.
Morris currently serves on the House Banks and Banking Committee; Game, Fish, and Parks Committee; and the Natural Resources and Environment Committee.
