Cain's fundraising reflects momentum
FOREST PARK, GA (July 6) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herman Cain’s strong fundraising is a reflection of his ever-increasing momentum in the U.S. Senate race.
“Herman is nipping on Rep. Isakson’s heels,” said Cain Campaign Manager Matt Wylie. “We’re neck and neck with Rep. Isakson in fundraising. We have the strongest message, the most donors, the largest grassroots organization with the hardest-working supporters and our momentum has become unstoppable.”
Cain has raised a total of $2.7 million during the U.S. Senate race. With $750,000 total raised this quarter, a total 18,600 donors and the hardest-working grassroots supporters, Cain has become the man to beat. Cain has $570,000 cash on hand, staying competitive with his opponent, Rep. Johnny Isakson.
“We’re exactly where we want to be going into the final 14 days,” Wylie continued. “After two statewide losses, the Isakson camp is in very familiar territory.
“Rep. Isakson will never be able to get the conservative vote, while Herman is chipping away at Rep. Isakson’s base,” Wylie said. “Georgians want a candidate who will be consistent in his votes and that is something Rep. Isakson cannot and will not offer them. Cain supporters are passionate and they will ensure Cain is Georgia’s next United States Senator.”
“This race is too close and too important for us to take anything for granted,” said Cain. “As we remain competitive in fundraising, we are outworking Rep. Isakson and outdoing him in momentum and grassroots support. All bets are off.”
Team Cain is leading the other campaigns in grassroots organization. The first to go on statewide television and radio, Cain has opened three field offices outside Atlanta in Augusta, Savannah and Valdosta.
Herman Cain, a conservative Republican from McDonough, Ga., is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Zell Miller (D-GA). A successful businessman and author of three books, Cain has served as Chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza as well as head of the National Restaurant Association. Married for 36 years, Cain has two children and two grandchildren. He is also an associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta.
